But just as exciting to see!
Imagine our surprise to see a beautiful Baltimore Oriole on this dreary morning on the hummingbird feeder.
We don't remember ever seeing an Oriole in our yard.
The Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula) is a small icterid blackbird that averages 18 cm long and weighs 34 g. This bird received its name from the fact that the male's colors resemble those on the coat-of-arms of Lord Baltimore.

| I have now learned visits to hummingbird feeders aren't uncommon |
Baltimore Orioles forage in trees and shrubs, also making short flights to catch insects. They mainly eat insects, berries and nectar, and are often seen sipping at hummingbird feeders. Oriole feeders contain essentially the same food as hummingbird feeders, but are designed for orioles, and are orange instead of red and have larger perches. Baltimore Orioles are also fond of halved oranges, grape jelly and, in their winter quarters, the red arils of Gumbo-limbo (Bursera simaruba).

He is just beautiful...I have never seen one up close. We have a our humming bird feeder out and we are so enjoying the humming birds, but I don't think we will see what you saw.
I have another blog friend in IN who was surprised to see an Oriole. Such a beautiful bird.
Saying a prayer that your shoot goes very well tomorrow.
WOWOWOWOWOW! He's a beauty (and he knows it). Wonderful!
What a treat. We have seen a Baltimore Oriole in our yard twice in 20 years. So colorful and pretty! One of those feeders is on my list--I read they keep the ants out. That has been a big problem with all my other hummingbird feeders.
What a beautiful bird. I always amazed at the vibrant colors God wasn't shy about using in birds. So pretty!
Good Morning! How pretty is that!! I have a humming bird feeder on my front porch...I am going to start watching closer for visitors. Have a wonderful day!
Oh, LDH, perfect photos. And what a great unplanned color combo. Great job! Susan
Beautiful! I've been enjoying seeing cardinals and goldfinches at our feeders.
How cool! Great shot of such a pretty bird!
I'm always a bit envious of those who enjoy the company of birds so close-up and personal. One day I'll figure out how to get rid of the pesky squirrels around here, then maybe my day for enjoying the birds will come. Gorgeous pictures.
I've never seen one of those but they sure are pretty. How interesting they they like to visit hummingbird feeders. You got some great pictures of him.
We have never seen one of these in our yard, and you were able to get a picture too, just beautiful. We have heard the hummingbirds chirping at each other, but have yet to see them at our feeders.
